San Marino’s real estate market was ranked the 5th most valuable in Los Angeles County by Los Angeles Magazine back in 2018. The strength of San Marino schools is a significant part of the property values in our community. The fabric of San Marino is based on a strong sense of community, safe and thriving neighborhoods, and wonderful schools that provide excellent educational opportunities for students to continue to achieve academic and personal greatness.
The correlation is clear – great schools benefit everyone in the community, not just students. A healthy school district requires support from everyone – residents, homeowners, parents, and even local businesses. Due to the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), enacted by California State officials, SMUSD receives some of the lowest state funding, approximately $2,500 less per student than the state average. This results in us relying directly on our community and parents to close the funding gap.
We are less than two weeks away from the end of SMSF’s 18-19 Annual Campaign and we need everyone’s support to help us reach our $2 million commitment for teachers. Every donation matters in helping close the state funding gap. You may donate online here, call the Foundation Office at 626-299-7014 to give over the phone, or send a check to our SMSF offices located at 1665 West Drive in San Marino.
It takes the whole community to ensure that San Marino and its schools thrive. Will you support to keep our San Marino community flourishing?
