District Announces Projected $2.5 Million Deficit For Upcoming 2019-2020 Year

The District announced during the last Board of Education meeting that they are facing a $2.5 million budget deficit for the upcoming 2019-2020 year. The deficit is largely attributable to increases in salaries, health-benefit costs, and state-required contributions into public pensions.

SMSF is dedicated to continuing to support San Marino schools through this budget deficit, but we need the community’s support. We are less than a week away from the 2019-2020 year, and we encourage everyone to learn more about the potential problems that SMUSD will be facing during next year and throughout the future.

Please visit the SMUSD website here to view the presentation and for further information on the deficit projection.
